Theres a disconnect room in my house that I've turned into my studio and game room. However the internet signal to there is awful. To get to if from the main router I would need to go underground. I don't just mean under my house. I'd have to dig up part of back lawn (it's already turned yellow) and lay the cable all the way to the studio.

Is there anything I need to know like how deep I should dig the hole? Or any extra information that could be useful.

Thanks!

Use outdoor rated cable and invest in a trench shovel. We used one to lay a coax line once. It only has to be maybe 4~6 inches down. Deeper the better but don't kill yourself trying to make it as deep as possible. Not to mention if you try to go too deep you can get into legal trouble if you hit a pipe or electrical wire but most of those are usually multiple feet deep which is why you sometimes require dig permits.

You could also use plastic conduit for the section in the yard so that in the event of a cable failure or need to expand you don't have to pull out your shovel again. If you use a large enough conduit and keep the run fairly straight you can just pull in a replacement cable

This may also protect the cable from anyone in the future who may stick a shovel in the ground where they shouldn't have.
