Curious how pci e lanes breakdown and if I should consider pci 4 for my situation. Currently I have a Samsung 960 pro nvme, GTX 980 (looking at the rtx 3070), and a Asus essense stx pci e soundcard ( paired with a Sennheiser 58x jubilee). I'm looking and AMD and Intel on the lanes if I upgraded to either platform. Any help would be awesome!

Right now no pcie 4.0 bandwidth can't be even reached by any gpu not even the upcoming ampere will reach it (most likely) obviously you will need to get  a new platform later which will most likely have pcie 4.0 but your hardware won't be able to take advantage of that bandwidth

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Here is kinda of what I mean. I have a 4970k so currently I'm using a add-on pci card to get the 4x out of the extra 16x lane on my motherboard that over saturates my pci e lanes. Also the sound card I have uses a 1x pci lane. So, I'm trying to math out how many lanes I'll need and if by going Intel I'm over saturating things. Thanks for the reply.
