ryzen 3000 ready

so im upgrading to a ryzen 7 2700x from a ryzen 5 3400g and my mobo says on it that its ryzen 3000 ready and ive heard people say i need to downgrade the bios and other people say it should work just fine so im super confused on what to do because im scared im going to sell my r5 3400g before my r7 2700x gets here and find out that it wont work. so does anybody know for sure what i have to do ? if your not 100% positive about your answer say that please and thanks

You don't need to downgrade your bios, I have no idea why people would say that. The bios updates add features, such as support for a new generation, but they don't take away support for the current generation.

Bios updates never remove support for older cpus, so your 2700x will work without any bios changes.

Only downgrade a BIOS if there is an specific issue you're having.  Like if the 270)X is known to knly work with an older BIOS.

 

In your case, you're fine.  Most any BIOS that runs a 3xxx series will work for the 2xxx series no problem.

 

Throw the 2700X on the board and enjoy.  Make sure you have a dedicated gpu too tho, since the 2700X doesn't have onboard graphics.
