Hi guys,

I'm no nativ speaker and this is my first post, so pls be forgiving. Anyway I just ran into a problem when switching out my CPU cooler.

Specs:

I5-9600k

Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X

MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X 8GB

4x 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws V 3200

PSU some older (i think 6 years or more) Be Quiet 600 or 650 Watt

Nvme Crosair MP510 960GB

Nvme Crosair MP510 480GB

SSD Sandisk Plus 240GB

SSD Sandisk Plus 120GB

HDD 1TB Samsung

Old cooler : Be Quiet Pure Rock

New cooler: Noctua nh-d14

I thought about getting into overclocking and wasn't sure if my cooler could handle it. I saw a noctua nh-d14 for a fair price used near by, so I got it. The Installation went without problems. I went from one 120mm PWM fan to 2 non PWM fans witch I connected via a Y-adapter. After powering it on it did not want to boot, did loop like one or two times in POST but turning it on and off again got me into BIOS. It said that there was a problem in the last boot and gave me to option to reset the BIOS to default settings, which i did and then it did just boot as normal. To be sure i did start gpu-z aswell as HWi to check the cpu temps were ok. I noticed the fans were not spinning but where trying to spin, so i did set the fan mode via Smart Fan 5 tp full blow, seem logical that the voltage would not be enought for two fans. The temps stayed under 35°C the whole time and went down when i turned the fans on. After the PC ran stable for 30 minutes, I restarted it to go into BIOS to set the fan to voltage controle instead of PWM. Did work without any problems again, since i did reset my BIOS settings I wanted to load the XMP profile of my RAM again so it was time for another reboot. THIS IS WHERE THINGS WENT DOWNHILL. I loaded up my XMP profile and everything was normal, i still had an eye on the temps and all was normal, after 10min my pc just froze totaly, since nothing worked anymore I went ahead and did power it off and then on again. Since then I am stuck in POST LOOP.

The PC just took a long time (~17 sec) in POST rebooting right after, no BIOS or anything on the screen.

So i went ahead and:

Try with only one CPU fan

Try with only the old PWM fan

Took out the CMOS batterie

Took out all but 1 RAM stick

Try another RAM slot

Try unplugging the HDD

when I took out the grapics card the POST loop when from a 17 second cycle to a 2 second cycle turning my PC in a disco and leaving me as clueless as before.

What I noticed is that the power off time between the loops seem to go down a bit each time it loops, the frist time it is off like 1,5 sec but when looping the second time it is only 1 second. Could be that the capacitators just dont need to be charged that much anymore.

Would it make sense that the PSU just died? Or could it be that i made a big mistake when changeing the coolers? (Yes i did use thermal paste and cleaned the old one before)

The RAM, both NvmE, the CPU aswell as the mainboard are about half a year old.

Thanks in advance

Update:

I tried a new PSU with the same problems. So I just RMA the Mainboard. The new one booted fine, untill I loaded the XMP profile. Same problem came back.

This time i manged to reset the BIOS and it seems like i can boot safly. (Will run a MemTest soon)

The part I don't get is, why my OC with XMP just suddenly stoped working??
