Today I installed a new mobo, processor, CPU fan and ram I have been running the system for about 5 6 hours just fine.

Then all of a sudden I get an activate windows water mark on my screen I go to troubleshoot and select I have installed new hard wear but it says servers are down can you guys help please.

what version of Windows, 8, 8.1, or 10?

You can transfer the license to a new computer from your MS account web page however you must deactivate the old machine using the old machine before you can reactivate it on the new machine.

Thing is I bought the pc prebuilt and adding parts now so I don't think I will be activated on my ms account

Yes but by swapping the CPU & Board AFA Windows is concerned it is a new machine. When you activate Windows it uses the Key you entered (or was preinstalled) and the systems hardware profile to generate a hardware ID number, this number is registered to MS when Windows activates. Now you've changed hardware the hardware ID code has also changed, AFA MS are concerned you're using a new computer with your old key.

 

To fix this you need to replace all the new hardware with the old stuff you took out, boot into Windows, go to Microsofts Account sign in webpage and log in, go to manage devices, find the computer in the device list and deregister it. Then you can put the new stuff back in and reactivate using your existing key.
