Dual tower vs single tower?

So I'm looking for a new cpu cooler for my r7 3800x.  I have a thermaltake v1 case with the stock 200mm intake fan.  I have the stock cooler on the high setting and it can get a bit loud and temps when running things like cinebench are in the 80s. Max was 84.3c.

I was told the noctua u9s was the best for the case, but its $60 usd. And I've read you can get taller coolers than what the manufacturer says for the v1.

I found 2 offbrand/no name heatsinks that I was considering, a 135mm tall dual tower 6 heatpipe unit w/ a 92mm fan, or a 148mm tall single tower 5 heatpipe unit with a 120mm fan.

I would be buying MX-4 thermal paste and 2 80mm artic fans(for exhaust) with either one and total would still be less than the u9s.

Not sure which style cooler would be better.

Main goal is make it quieter, and stay outta the 80s.

So colour is not a problem? The Scythe Choten seems to be the best option within factory spec of 140mm

Size doesnt mean everything. it depends on how it's built and proper testing is what really tells their capability.

Edited cause didnt see the first part of your message. No color problems but want a front to back air path.

True, any recommendations on a cooler that will be quieter and maybe cooler than my temps with the stock cooler that are under 149mm tall? And affordable( less than 40 usd)?

If you dont mind ancient coolers then the Arctic Freezer Xtreme Rev 2 could do. No reviews on AM4, but mounting frame for AM4 is available and it did ok on AM3/AM3+

Can you link the coolers you're referring to? If they're actually no-name with no test results, I wouldn't recommend going with them since it's very difficult to tell how good a cooler is from appearances alone.

Fuma 2 might barely fit: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/YsHRsY/scythe-fuma-2-5117-cfm-cpu-cooler-scfm-2000

For reference, here's an example of the top fin for the NH-U12S at ~154mm which just fits under the side panel. https://pcpartpicker.com/b/t8J8TW

Alternatively, the shorter Freezer 33 eSports ONE would also fit but isn't as big of an upgrade: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/dGfhP6/arctic-freezer-33-esports-one-blackyellow-cpu-cooler-acfre00044a

I searched and search through pcpartpicker and couldn't find anything but the cryorig h7 that fit but was larger than the case recommended site. Though if you read the build with the u12s he had to drill holes for the heatpipes to stick through the acrylic. But it means a 150mm might just fit.

 Are what I was considering.

I can't remember if it was on amazon or newegg but I think a seller might even have been artic recommended a newer cooler than the xtreme 2. I think it was under the question section on amazon for the cooler. Bus as long as its quieter and preferably out of the 80s during all core loads I'd be down lol.

the 33/34's esport edition? 150mm is probably too tall

The NH-U12S is 158mm tall. The ~154mm height I'm referring to is the height of the top fin which sit lower than the heatpipes and seems to fit under the side panel.

The coolers you linked from amazon use 92mm fans and are probably not very good. I'd recommend avoiding them.

The case cooler height clearance spec is conservative and I guessing it's because they want to push their NiC L31 and Frio Silent 12 coolers which are 140mm tall. It wouldn't be the first time case specs were conservative that happened to barely fit a cooler from the same manufacturer.

Ty very much I can now look for coolers up to 154mm!
