Help with OC'ing FX 6300

Hello,
My system specs are: FX 6300 w/ Stock Cooler, M5A78L-M/USB3, 2x4GB 1600Mhz RAM and GTX 750 GPU
The temperatures are around 62C and 64C under 30 mins of stress test and an idle temperature of 21.4C and 37C on package and motherboard CPU sensor respectively.
VCore seems to jump upto 1.42V at 4.12GHz turbo. So I decided to try undervolting the CPU, but the BIOS only have option to increase the voltage over stock voltage for the CPU(i.e 1.3v) but not undervolt.
Should I just leave the voltage on auto and disable Turbo Boost or should I overclock the CPU with voltages under 1.375 or so?

What are my options on this? Any suggestions would be really grateful.

Most BIOS have an option to set a VCORE offset. Sometimes you can set it to -something

There is no options such as offset in the BIOS. I can only see CPU,HT and Memory Over Voltage with a 0.01V increments.

Ok, then have you tried changing the LLC settings?

 

Maybe a low LLC will stop it from peaking the voltage. Sadly im not that familiar with older boards

Yeah I can find LLC which is set to auto and has options from 0,20,40,60,80 and 100% in the menu.

Well thats quite different to the LLC settings Im used to.

Usually they go from 1 to 6, so Im not sure which one will give more VDroop so that the voltage will stay lower on load.

 

If you feel confident then maybe youre willing to try out the different settings? Or reading the manual would probably be a better option :D

Sorry about the last post LLC is in percentages from 0-100, and talking about the manual it doesn't provide much info about the LLC :( What different settings would you suggest? I know these boards are legacy BIOS and hard to be recalled but I had to ask :(

The LLC settings are used to change the VDroop when the CPU is under load.

In newer BIOSes the lower the number, the lower the VDroop. Sometimes even more voltage under load.

 

After googling i read that 0% LLC means the voltage will drop the most, and 100% will most likely not drop at all.

As I have no experience on my own I cant tell you if that is really going to happen.

So maybe try a setting like 50% and see if that changes anything at all. That should in the middle and safe for your setup.

What should I look for after changing the LLC to 50%? Also do I need to disable AMD Turbo Boost in the BIOS or leave is as is?

Id leave the turbo boost on.

 

Look if the voltages changed under load and if the system is still stable if they dropped.

Well depends on the CPU.

 

Some are stable at 1.3, some at 1.4.

 

Youll have to do the testing yourself

Are you running it at stock or with an overclock?

That matters and reported temps are close to the limit.

 

1.37v's isn't bad but if it can hit the speeds you want with less I'd do that. It should hit it's stock 3.5 speed with just 1.32v's used without issue and adjust things in turbo mode as needed on it's own.

Even OC'ed to 4.0 shouldn't require 1.40v's if the chip and board themselves are good, 1.37v's should get you there no prob.

Yeah its running everything on stock, no changes made in the BIOS. When the boost hits to 4.118GHz, the vcore bumps to 1.42v. And dips to stock speeds ranging from 3.5 to 3.8GHz while throttled. This is why I am confused and concerned about. Pretty high vcore and thermal throttling under load for about 10-15mins of stress test and temps reaching to about 64c.

So I thought of undervolting the CPU, but there seems to have no option to do it in the BIOS. There's only option to increase the voltage over stock for the core, ht and mem. What are my options here? I'm pretty confused.
