So I have to choose between

Asus rog strix g531dt and Asus tuf FX 505dt.

Both have the same gpu (gtx 1650)and ram(8gb) config.

The TUF laptop has a 120hz display

ROG has a better cpu and possibly a better thermal design.

ROG has better RGB but I don't  actually care.

ROG looks better too imo.

So if I'm getting the TUF one it'll be with 256gb ssd and 1tb hdd which I think is better than if I go with the ROG with a 512gb ssd.

Now that real question is that is the 120hz display a good enough reason to get the TUF one? 1650 isn't powerfull enough to hit 120fps but will regular tasks be better and is the 3550h really that behind the 9300h?

this was the top hit for the ROG

While this was the top hit I got for the asus

Are these the laptops you are even talking about?

Speaking about 120hz in general:

If you can’t hit 120fps at whatever resolution (monitors will do multiple resolutions generally as long at they’re smaller than their max) it doesn’t matter.  You can probably hit 120fps at, say, 720p/low Rez almost no matter what game you are playing though so 120hz has its points if you’re going to do that.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

It depends I suspect.  The synch May be more valuable than the fps.  It might matter if the fps that is run at is still a lot higher than that offered by the other monitor. 40fps is sort of a minimum beyond which it starts to matter less and less.  It can still be quite noticeable as things get lower though.  It would depend heavily on which apps are being run.  Many apps lock at 60 fps or do not rely on 3d graphics.
