so i know that if you have a 60hz tv its not possible to see past 60 fps but for some reason on my 60hz 4k tv when i cap the fps to 180 it feels way smoother than if i capped it at 60 or 75fps is this just a placebo effect or is it actually effecting how smooth it'll be because when i test them in the same game at the same place 180 fps feels so much smoother than if it was capped at 60 for some reason and i have a 60hz 4k tv

Yes the game will run a bit more smooth.

But there is no way to display more than 60HZ/FPS

it could possibly be a mental effect thing but it may not be, setting the fps much higher than the monitortv's refresh rate will mean the the display will always have a new and current image to display whenever it is ready for one, this can make it seem a lot smoother

than what is making it feel more smooth ?

give this a look

basically is if the monitor is ready for a new image but there isnt one then it will display the same image twice which can make people feel uncomfortable when there isnt a change for 2/60ths of a second compaired to the 1/60th it should be
