Hey guys, I'm troubleshooting a PC on the other side of the world so give me some slack if I missed something obvious. The PC simply shuts off during certain games, like TABS, but is perfectly fine on the Witcher 3. The PC had a 2060 and a new PSU in it, which has now started to get this problem.

Specs:

MSI H310M PRO-M2

i5 8400

2x8GB Corsair Vengeance 2133Mhz

Corsair CX750M PSU

MSI VENTUS XS RTX 2060

2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD

240GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD

The issue is the computer just turns off, leaves no trace like a bluescreen or bios codes, so I'm having to troubleshoot with no assistance from the PC itself.

I've tried every trick in the book I know, I started by running Heaven, running a stress test on the CPU in CPU-Z, I cannot get it to shut off no matter what amount of power is drawn, so I'm fairly confident it is not the PSU.

As far as that goes I would also rule out the brand new GPU.

Refreshing windows changed what games caused it to shut off, and running DDU and a fresh install of drivers also helped. The hard drive has a few high fly writes, but seems to otherwise be in good condition.

I got them to completely reinstall windows on this new SSD, unplugging and transferring no files from the old HDD just in case. This did not fix the problem, so it isn't a software issue.

Ruling out the PSU and GPU, and likely the CPU and RAM considering there was nothing wrong with them before, my likely suspect now is a funky motherboard. This is hopefully reinforced by the system shutting off when plugging a SATA data cable from the old hard drive in while the PC is running. (Which I know some of you will disagree with, but it shouldn't do that)

I'm seriously at the end of my troubleshooting skills and knowledge, especially with the PC physically inaccessible and being unable to swap out parts.

Let me know if there are any other reasonable troubleshooting steps I can have them take, otherwise thanks for reading I guess, one of the worst PC's I've ever tried to diagnose.

diagnose

Have you considered it's simply bad power going into the system? Perhaps a UPS would help to identify this

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.
