I was going to build a streaming PC, but it seems like my GPU upgrade makes that not necessary, so I was thinking about turning this into a NAS box for backup, as I currently don't have any backup for my computer.

Budget: I am looking to keep it below $1000 USD, as I will probably spend about $100-$150 per paycheck to get a couple parts, and then build it a few months down the line once I have all the parts. Because of this, I am trying to keep most parts at or below the $150 mark.

Aim: First-time NAS box, to backup my computer. Basically it, nothing special like making it a media box.

Peripherals: I already have the monitor for it, but I will probably only plug it in if I need it. I also already own the MB, but everything else is up for suggestion. I am also planning on using FreeNAS, and if I don't like it, drop some money on another NAS OS.

Here is what I have so far:

Let me know if there are any better options for this!

If this is going to be a NAS, then there is little need for a fancy keyboard and mouse, or for that matter, a fully modular PS. Pick up cheap keyboard and mouse and save some dosh there, and go with a semi modular PS

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

I can definitely do a cheaper mouse and keyboard. I was looking at the Corsair CXM for a semi-modular. I updated my list with a CXM, and a keyboard/touchpad combo.
