Do I lose PWM control when I daisy chain these fans?

Type of fan doesn't matter. PWM is a standard so all fans will run the same.

If both sets of fans have the same rpm range then they'll run around the same point.

 

I'm currently doing an In Win A1 Plus build. The case comes with 2 In Win ASL120 fans installed, and I added a couple Arctic P12 PWM PST fans in the bottom. They are all 4 pin fans with built in splitters for daisy-chaining. Last time I built a pc the fans were molex (ew...) so I'm new to this. 

 

In this build, my mobo only has 1 avaliable fan header and I have 4 fans, so I guess I have to daisy-chain them. My concern is that that while these are 4 pin fans, the splitters on them seem to only have 3 wires/pins. Does this mean that I will lose PWM control when I daisy-chain them together?

 
How would I be able to get these all plugged into the mobo and be able to control fan speed?

As long as you have only the same fans chained together on one header then you should be fine.  Mixing fans on a header is gonna lead to wonky RPM readings.

On a PWM fan the first two pins are power. The third is rpm sensor and the forth is the control.

While you can have multiple rpm sensors, it'll only result in odd rpm reads.

Hmmmm... It would be 2 of the In Win fans and 2 Arctic p12 pwm pst..... The mobo only has 1 case fan header so I think I'll just have to try it and see what happens.

 

I did some research and it looks like the splitters only have 3 pins because the mobo is only able to read 1 fan's rpm anyway. I guess that means It just reads the first fan its hooked to and then all of the fans receive the same voltage based on that first fan. If that's the case, wouldn't it be okay since it's only reading 1 fan? I wonder if the in win fans and the arctic fans would spin at the same rpm when receiving the same voltage. not sure if there's any way to know. 


Idk if any of that logic works but I tried.....

Yeah that makes sense now. Do you think it'd matter if I have 2 arctic fans and 2 in win fans chained together and then plugged into the same fan header? Idk if the different fans would turn the same voltage into equal rpm. Or does that really even matter?
