Hello everyone, I'm planning to build my first pc and to OC (first time tho).

1. Budget and location

Total budget: max €1500 (this includes monitor and windows 8), parts cost around the same in USD

I live in Belgium

2. Aim

I would like a pc for gaming (mainly action mmorpg and little fps games) and watching movies. While playing games I like to enjoy the scenery and cutscene's. Maybe I'll be doing some recording and video editing later on.

3. Monitors

Only need one monitor and think IPS would be the best choice (for movies and gamescenery) and I'm not a real competitive gamer.

4. Why new build?

Basicly I always bought a prebuild pc but kinda want to go to building one myself. Main reason there is not much choice in components you can get in prebuilds and its hard to upgrade later on while when you build it yourself you can put anything in it you want yourself.

Need of new pc because mine now only has decent i7-920 and rest is kinda bad (nvidea GT230 ,....) but will be used by my parents/sister later.

Need of new monitor because mine is 8 years old and is starting to show some defects + its only 17" (kinda small). Will try to use this monitor to run temperature checks etc ...

5. Build I have my eyes on now (can change)

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4 GHz Socket 1150

Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45 gaming Socket 1150

GPU: MSI GTX 770 2GB Twin Frozr OC MSI N760 TF 4GD5/OC
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB DDR3-1600
Power Supply: Corsair RM650 (650W)
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW (120 GB)
HDD: WD Green WD20EZRX (2 TB) Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 (2 TB)
Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper212 Evo
Case: Cooler Master CM 690 III Corsair Obsidian 350D or Aerocool XPredator X3 Devil Red edition
DVD-drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE (like to have one just in case)
Monitor: Acer G236HLHbid (23")
OS: windows 8

This build will cost me roughly € 1500. So if there are any suggestions for changes be free to comment. So thing I'm really not sure about are: MoBo, GPU, Case (enough space ,..), need of more cooling or PSU? For the others ones I believe they are fine (suggestions still welcome tho). Btw for coulors I'm going for are red/black.

Thanks for reading, hope it was understandable and if you need more info about something be free to ask (won't be on much till weekends tho).

I wouldn't go for the 4GB card since it doesn't really make that much of a difference when compared to a 2GB card.  Everything else seems alright.

Motherboard is very good I basically have the same one except it has more bells and whistles (Z87-GD65 Gaming).

If the case is classified as a mid tower then it is probably big enough (not sure though).

Your build looks similar to my build and mine performs very well  :P

If you can fit it I would recommend a 2GB 770 or a 270x instead. On a single monitor 4GB is overkill. Over really only 3GB helps for more then 1 monitor.

Current System: CPU - I5-6500 | Motherboard - ASRock H170M-ITX/ac | RAM - Mushkin Blackline 16GB DDR4 @ 2400mHz | GPU - EVGA 1060 3GB | Case - Fractal Design Nano S | Storage - 250GB 850 EVO, 3TB Barracuda | PSU - EVGA 450W 80+ Bronze | Display - AOC 22" 1080p IPS | Cooling - Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK | Keyboard - Cooler Master QuickFire Rapid(MX Blues) | Mouse - Logitech G602 | Sound - Schiit Stack | Operating System - Windows 10

The OG System: I3-2370M @ 2.4 GHz, 750GB 5400 RPM HDD, 8GB RAM @1333Mhz, Lenovo Z580 Laptop (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS).

Peripherals: G602, AKG 240, Sennheiser HD 6XX, Audio-Technica 2500, Oneplus 5T, Odroid C2(NAS).

I would not get a GTX 760 with 4GB of VRAM as the card can't even use that much. Since your eager to buy something that expensive maybe a geforce 770 will be feesible

You are doing it wrong. :D  (IMO)

Here a 1200€ tower:

I made this list with geizhals.de:

Bitfenix Prodigy M

MSI Z87M Gaming

I5 4670k

G.skill RipjawsX 8gb (2x4) 2133 mhz cl9.

Be quiet! Dark Rock 3

Corsair RM Series 750 Watt (Xfire ready)

WD Green 2tb

Samsung 840 evo 250gb

MSI R9 290 gaming.

Price: 1210,10€

Then a copy of Windows 8,1 for 78,6€ (You don't have copy of Windows rigth?)  This leaves about 211,3€ for the monitor.  It streches your budget a little bit but i would get a DellUltraSharp U2412M for 232,88 €

Total price: 1521,58 €

meh. I really like mATX unless it comes to wc. Also he should be able to Xfire 2 R9 290's in the prodigy since the motherboard supports it and the case also does. (It may get a little hot while stressing/mining tho.)

I kinda take what I said back then but i had originally thought it was a M-ITX motherboard and case

The MSI Z87-G45 Gaming motherboard is ATX, the Obsidan 350D only fits mATX and smaller motherboards. The Aerocool case will take ATX motherboards but it has far from optimal cooling. You might want to consider the Nzxt H440 or Phantom 410.

Ok thanks for all the feedback, gonna check some of the suggested stuff and will update my build later today.

As for the monitor after some searching i found Acer G236HLHbid (23") and think it was decent price for decent monitor. About the mentioned monitors: Dell UltraSharp U2412M was on my list too but the 16:10 isn't so optimal for gaming; Haven't checked the Asus PB238Q 23.0" yet but is it much better than the acer because the shop where I gona buy my components doesn't have it (I could always buy it from alternate tho).

Looking good.

The Hyper 212 EVO fan in its default mounting position generally interferes with tall memory modules in the slot closest to the cpu. It should not be a problem with this build, but something you should be aware of.

most of the games will be on the hdd. so don`t get a green drive. if it only were for media and some files, yeah. get a seagate 7200 or wd blue

Well I plan on using the ssd for games (I only keep the games installed I play at the time so 2-3 games) and OS and the hdd mainly for recorded videos etc. Maybe that I'll go for only 1 TB hdd because I still got some 2 TB external hdd with 1 TB free space lying around.

No? Why would it be?

If u r going to carry it a lot between places then it makes sense...but if u r going to use it only at ur home then probably buy a case with good airflow like a mid tower case...for that price range u can get a nice mid tower like NZXT Phantom 410...
