Cm Storm - Trigger Vs Quick Fire Tk

Guys, I am going to buy a new keyboard soon and i was thinking of going with the CM Storm ones, since i can only get Steelseries, Razer, Logitech and Coolermaster mechanical ones.

In my country i can't get a lot of mechanical keyboards and e bay is out of the question becaue we have a high tax when importing stuff, and i am waiting for brown switches to be available as well, and the cheapest mechanical keyboard costs 110$.

I decided to go CM because my vendor stated they ordered MX brown switch keyboards, but CM only...

So can someone pls tell me what is the differrence between the Trigger and Quickfire TK ( i know tk has usb hub and 5 light modes )

I play Dota 2, LoL, Crysis 3, Hawken, and i am considering staring Starcraft 2 or going back to playing WoW, I tried red and black switches, they are nice, but i was blown away by by mx blue, but i was in my shop and they were "loud" with people there, and red and black were not, so i am waiting for brown to try them and see. Pls if anyone has experience with CM keyboards tell me what to take, and why.

I've tried the famous Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid, and it's a great value and build quality. I'm also a big fan of Cherry MX Browns - you'll love them. If you can't get the Quickfire Rapid, I'd definitely go with the TK model as it's more compact. I've seen the Trigger in person and it's nice too, but I just love the form factor of the TK model, it's very unique. In any case, you can't go wrong with Cooler Master. Keep in mind the Trigger does have macro keys on the left side if you need those.

I have been using a rapid with blues for some time now and it's sure awesome. It's just tkl thus smaller and misses out on the features you pretty much know about already.

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

Thx guys fore replys, but i cant get blues now and i was thinking of going on the TK version, and yes the form factor is awesome, now all i have to w8 is for the TK MX brown edition to be available in my country.

Oh did someone try out the new Razer Black Widow 2013, i heard a lot of people saying that the old one was built like trash, but that the new one is built like a tank, anyone has taughts? Because if i cant get browns i will go blues but the logitech one is too expensive, and CM is red and black only in my country so far, so the valid option is the Black Widow 2013 (standard edition), anyone has experience feel free to reply, would be helpful!!!

Blues are a hit or a miss, the 'click' may be fun at first, but it'd either annoy those around you, or slowly annoy you over time. It's a matter of opinion, but Red or Brown would be better.....for simply typing, yes, the Blues would be great. As for the 'awesome' form factor of the TK, it's simply a Tenkeyless which is about 80% of a full sized KB, meant more for those with limited desk space. Blues are tactile and clicky requiring 50g pressure to actuate, Browns are tactile and non-clicky while Reds are Linear (non-tactile) and non-clicky, both require 45g to actuate. I have a Storm Trigger Cherry Red and I like it a lot! The wrist rest does come in handy for those long gaming sessions....

I have a Trigger with green switches and it is a solid keyboard. I am very happy with it, but I like full sized keyboards. Looks like the TK is a condensed keyboard.

I know this is off topic to this thread but… how are you liking the Greens? I almost picked up a keyboard with those switches when they went on sale for $80.

just a word of advice about reading others' opinions:

there are several 'groups' of users who prefer a certain sets of switches

{ reds }

{ blacks }

{ blues, browns }

{ blues, greens }

so that means somebody who likes blues probably won't like reds and vice versa.  someone who likes the sound of blues will like the stiffness and loudness of greens.  someone who likes blues for their tactile bump will also enjoy browns.

The biggest difference I would say is the size and form factor between the 2 keyboards. The manufacturers for the 2 keyboards are also different.

Basically you just want to try em' out, if you can, to find out what you like. Other-wise you'll want to do a lot of reading, and hearing sound tests helps as well. I wouldn't say there are "groups" of users, though.

Personally, I love the green switches. I was going to get blues until I saw Linus' CES video on Cooler Master and I'm much happier with the greens. They definitely have more tactile response.

Sweet deal. I'll check that video out, too.

The brand is Cooler Master, the manufacturing companies are different. ;)

They are both made by Cooler Master.

Corsair branded PSU's are made by different makers.....from CWT, Seasonic and one other that I can't recall right now. CoolerMaster mech KB's may be similar that way....

The Quickfire TK has the num pad merged with the del and home etc. keys while the Trigger is a full sized keyboard with macro keys. Have you ever thought of getting a Logitech G710+ keyboard. It has a white backlight and Cherry MX Brown switches with O-rings to dampen the sound. Their software is better than the Trigger one imo.

Yes i have but it is too expensive, i want CM because of the price, the logitech one costs almost 2x the price

and i just heard the razer is loud as a typewriter, and it was over the headphones so blues may go out of the question for me, will have to w8 brown switches on CM to arive to my country
