Dynamic dns is what you need ;) It makes running servers a lot easier.

Because with most ip's they aren't static, meaning they change frequently. As well as giving out your ip address isn't a good idea. With a ddns it doesn't matter if you ip address changes, the ddns stays the same. As well as being able to setup your own address,  for example scaryjam8234'smincraftserver.whateverdns.com It's safe to give out a ddns and it means it's easier for people to connect without worrying about your ip address changing.

Nope wouldn't mess with anything. You just have to get a ddns, put your ip address in the site. Open a port for the ddns server and minecraft and it's smooth sailing.

Well my router supports ddns natively. If your does too you may want to look into the settings and see which ddns sites it supports, it's easier when your router supports the ddns you're using.

Here is a youtube video, I haven't watched it so I'm not sure if it is any good. Here is a tutorial just in case. :) Make sure you open the port for minecraft for the ddns or else it wont connect. But you can test if it is working by typing your ddns in the multiplayer on minecraft and it will run through the server. If you can connect, then so can others and it is working. :)
