Hi all,

i'm new here and was refered here by a friend who says that this forum is full of really smart peopl who may be able to help me.

Basically, i recently got a new PC to do my college work on. i purposly got one without a wireless card so that i could use it as an excuse to use an ethernet cable. so, when i connected my new pc to my router, the wifi signal was shot to pieces. not a single device could connect to the wireless signal sent off by the router. this meant that 4 phones, 2 laptops and an Ipad couldn't connect to the internet. I assumed this was merely because of the use of the ethernet cable. however, i unplugged the ethernet cable from both the router and the pc as i wasn't going to use the internet. as soon as i turned on the pc, the wifi signal cut out again for all the devices. this is where i, and my friend who was helping, have become lost. how can simply turning on the pc (which has no internet connection whatsever) still cut out the wireless signal completely?

any help would be appreciated a lot. i need it for my college work but i'm hardly allowed to use it because of all these problems.

is it on the same power circuit as your router, you could be drawing just enough power to make it so the wireless doens't have enough electricity to run, try putting your pc or the router on a different electrical circuit. weird issue but thats all i can think of
