No, the board arrives tomorrow, just thought i'd ask.

Apparently if you buy it from amazon it comes with an updated bios.

But i bought mine elsewhere, where in the q&a people have been told they need to update.

Unless they have really old stock, it will likely have the correct update on it.

From person experience, all boards a store will buy from a supplier from around a month or two after a CPU release will have the appropriate BIOS for those new CPU's. What I mean by that, is that Ryzen 3000 came out in July 2019 and basically all boards within two months from then that a store would get new have the correct BIOS for Ryzen 3000.

What I mean by that, is I doubt you would have to update the BIOS to get the CPU working. If it is Ryzen 3000 compatible is written on the box.

If it does not have that sticker, you would likely have to contact AMD for a 'bootkit', which basically means they send you a cheap CPU to loan, you update your BIOS with it to an appropriate one, send them back this CPU and now have a working system.

Hey.

Iv'e read that you can update bios using a flash stick.

Can only find a tutorial with an msi board, in which he renames the bios file accordingly (msi)

Iv'e purchased an ASRock B450 Steel Legend, that apparently needs an update for ryzen 3000 before use.

I assume the process is similar.

Can you help me with the steps i need to take, If it is indeed possible?

Thanks

Doesn't look like this board has such a feature.

Do you have the board in hand already? It may not need a BIOS update at all. A sticker on the box of this board should indicate if it is Ryzen 3000 ready:

I see. That's great, thanks for the help :)
