Hey.

Just bought a used (like new apparently) motherboard, a used cpu and new ram

Connected everything up, and nothing happens. Tried using a screwdriver to boot from motherboard (nothing)

Ax370-gaming k3

Ballistix 2x8 gig

Ryzen 5 3500x

Rx 580 nitro+

Areocool project 7  750w

I know the PSU and the GPU work fine.

I doubt it's the CPU, cos the seller showed pictures of it in cpuz.

Can someone help please?

Thanks.

When you say that nothing happens, what do you mean? Do any lights turn on? Does the system not POST?

No post. Literally nothing

So the lights turn on and the fans spin, but the display remains blank and the system never boots?

Since that is an X370 board, you probably need to update your UEFI firmware (BIOS). Go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest BIOS for that board. If the board has a BIOS flashback feature then you can use that otherwise you are going to have to use an older CPU to update the BIOS.

If there's absolutely nothing, have you doublechecked the connections from the PSU to the motherboard?

I've unplugged and plugged back in a few times from the motherboard end, and checked they were firmly in. Haven't done the PSU end (hard to access) cos I literally just removed my old motherboard, which powered up fine.

you havn't accidentaly hit the switch at the back of the PSU did you?

No. I've taken apart and reassembled once now. Checking everything I can.

I'm a bit suspicious about the motherboard. Could a dead board possibly be the result?

The board advertises as ryzen 3000 ready.

I've started the process of returning it now. And have purchased an alternative.

Thanks for your help.
