My first build ...

MisterH

Heeyyy guys!

I'm planning on doing my first build !! Really exciting !
But I could do with some help ..

So:

1: I am from the Netherlands, budget is €1500
2: The aim is mainly dull working and browsing, but I would like to boost the system for editing videos and some light gaming (I am into retro games such as red alert, silent hunter, dangerous waters and so on .. )

3. I would like to run two monitors, mainly because I prefer that setup when working

4. I have: A monitor (LG IPS LED 24MP58VQ-W) and mouse and keyboard. Furthermore I have some HDDs I can salvage, 2x500GB SATA.
So, I am looking at buying one additional monitor.
And I would need a Windows OS.

Furthermore, I would prefer to have Bluetooth in as well somehow ... I have a JBL LIVE 650 BT headphone I would like to connect wireless.

Maybe best use an USB adapter for this?

I guess thats about it ...

So I have been doing some scouting, and I am considering the following set-up:

PCPartPicker Part List: https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/list/kLXKcq

A same price air cooler will do better, like a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4, Scythe NINJA 5, those air cooler will outperform the Cooler Master on your list.

All the rest looks decent

better cpu

good air cooler

good motherboard with wifi and bluetooth

faster ram

faster ssd

better gpu model (cooler and quieter)

better quality psu( don't need more than 550W)

24in screen to match the one you already have in size (i find it easier for work)

I'd say, based on what you're planning on using it for, unles you really wanna overclock drop the cpu down to a 3600 (3600x is aprox 9% better) and get a be quiet! pure rock slim (unless you really like how the other one looks). G.SKILL Ripjaws V might be a better value imo but decide for yourself. The mobo I'd recommend the gaming plus max over the tomahawk max unless you really need usb 3.1 and dont want expansion cards. I'd get a Samsung SSD disk 970 Evo Plus 500GB M.2 based on some reviews regarding the intel one, stating how the chips aren't really in the interest of lasting a long time as one would say. I can't really recommend pirating windows nor am I suggesting you do so, but yeah

i mean, i was going to recommend the 3600 as well, but after optimising the rest of the build, I had 100 more so I said i can fit a 3700x in.

i agree with the intel, that's why I changed it. the pny ssd I picked should have performance similar to the samsung drive, for half the price.

for mobo, I also agree with you, but I picked one with bluetooth.

Updates - 3600 + 5700xt with a 1440p 144hz monitor and significantly faster SSD and ram.

Windows key can be had for pretty cheap from sites like kinguin, eBay and scdkeys. You'll just have to download windows onto a flash drive and install in onto your PC and activate using the key.

i prioritised cpu instead of gpu, as OP uses the pc mainly for video editing, not gaming. the 5700xt you suggested is 440 vs the 5700 i suggested with is 370. I don't think it's worth the difference.

My bad, I didn't read the use case properly.
