Poor desktop performance.

My computer performs well with my games, but the windows desktop (the actual desktop) performance is shit. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this because any google search just brings up useless guides for slow computers.

Specs:

2700x @ 4GHz

RTX 2080 Super

32GB of RAM @ 3200MHz

Asus ROG Crosshair 7 Hero

2x 1TB Samsung NVMe

Samsung CRG9 49" monitor

Running a dual-screen 4k wallpaper.

Any chance you can please specify what exactly you mean by shit???

It takes a few seconds for new icons to show up, a couple seconds to highlight a icon, a few seconds to open a folder on the desktop. Once explorer is open though, it has normal snappy performance (for the opening a folder example). Everything involving the desktop is slow to respond.
