I am planning to build a brand new pc. I am upgrading my old Core 2 quad q9650 and GTX 580 build. I am planning to sell it for around $200 USD.

Things that I have got lined up from my girlfriend's brother....

  1. Asrock X370 Taichi - $75
  2. 16gb 3000mhz cl15 ram - $30

I am planning to go with AMD, because most of the reviewers that I watch recommend zen2. I am getting that x370 Taichi from my girlfriend's brother. I told him to update the bios to the latest available version, so that it supports zen2.

I am confused between MSI b450 mortar max and x370 Taichi as both are available for around the same price. But I feel Taichi was a flagship product back in time, so it should be slightly better.

I am located in Austin, TX. My budget for this build is $800 or as low as possible. I have recently purchased a 1440p 144hz monitor from Acer. I was planning to get a used 1080ti for $450, but I have heard that rx 5700xt is a slightly better card.

Things that I am planning to keep from my old build...

  1. 500gb 860 Evo (It's still under warranty) and Seagate barracuda 2tb. (Planning to get a old HDD for $10 and putting in the old build that I am selling)
  2. Noctua nh-d14 cooler. (I have got a spare Intel stock cooler. Will put that on my old rig which I am selling)

What an absolute steal. Even if the bios didn't get updated it would have hella good value if you had to buy a used Apu to update it.

Also a really good value.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Ryzen loves fast ram. Many YouTubers suggested 3600mhz for zen2.

Suggested but definitely not required. 16GB of DDR4 at $30 is a bargain, and of course overclocking can make all the difference.

But there's a problem. I can't use the nh d14 cooler. Because the outer fan doesn't spin. The inner fan does work. I am afraid that the Ryzen will overheat.

You can use it with just one fan, or buy a similar sized fan and put it on the cooler.
