Tips on build list??

Gard

So I’ve been lurking about building a PC for a few months now just trying to learn as much as I can.  my plan is to have a middle tier gaming system that will last 5 years playing games without issues.  Thinking 1080p monitor 60 hz at least I’m sure that would be enough for me

I think I’m ready to start buying components. I was wondering how something like this would work together. And if some parts could be substitute for cheaper parts without hurting my quality. Or if there was any obvious problems with it.

I just noticed I didn’t add ram if there would be any suggestions. I would probably start with 16gb

I'd recommend some gskill ripjaws 2x8Gb for ram, and as for the motherboard, unless you really need pcie 4, I'd recommend a B450 board, such as the msi b450 tomahawk max which I'd just bought or if you really need pcie 4 get the asus prime x570p. Also swap the 1660ti for a 1660s if you really want to go nvidia. if not, get the amd 5700 or 5700xt

You can swap the board for an MSI B450 MAX series motherboard, it will be Ryzen 3000 ready out of the box so no need to worry about BIOS updates and it will shave about $50 off your price.

For RAM some 3200 or 3600 speed memory would be great and can be had in a 2x8GB kit for around $60 or so.

You could swap the power supply for a Corsair CXM (550 watt or so) or a beQuiet PurePower 11 or something as well.

Awesome thank you for the responses. I only wanted to go x570 so I didn’t have to worry about bios updates.

This one?  Also am I missing anything by not going x570 in terms if I want to upgrade my gpu in the future?

As i understand it the Ryzen stock cooler is sufficient, do you think there is any need to go with an after market one in terms of efficiency?

the ryzen stock cooler is sufficient. if you figure out it's too loud for you or you want to overclock to the limit and temps are too high, you can invest in a better one.
