Accidentally poured water on my keyboard

LaN_TeN

I accidentally spilled some water on my keyboard but luckily my keyboard is waterproof. However, the water also landed on the usb and when I took it out there's a lot of water on the metal piece. I've already put the keyboard's usb in uncooked rice for 10 hours but when I plug it in it either says 'device descriptor request failed' or the backlight of the keyboard doesn't turn on. I've dried it with a towel and connected it to 10 different usb ports but still doesn't work.

And by the way, my usb port which was connected to the keyboard that was splashed on is alright.

Try looking inside the connector (just with your eyes, not with tools) to see if perhaps something has corroded there. Perhaps scraping off that corrosion can help.

It takes time to completely dry, take a air dryer or leave it next to a hot environment

I've looked at it and it's perfectly clean. It's actually a lot more cleaner than before it was splashed with water.

I once had the same problem. Keyboard wasn't detected after the dive. I had to have it in rice for 48h to work again... so nice it some time and then retry

FOLDING MONTH 2021! GOGOGO and save on some heating costs 🙂
