Docking Station Ideas?

Just bought a laptop for college. I also have a desktop. I would like to have a nice station where I just need to plug it in quick to have my laptop connected to my desktop's peripherals. Any good bang4buck docking stations that work nice?

Does your laptop have USB-C or Thunderbolt?

 

If it's got Thunderbolt, I'd recommend a Thunderbolt Dock - they have much higher bandwidth, and therefore can have more IO on the dock without running into bandwidth issues. I have the HP Thunderbolt Dock G2, w/ 3x external displays connected, along with a crapload of USB devices.

 

If it lacks Thunderbolt, you could look at a USB 3.0 docking station, like the Dell D6000 Universal Dock, or any of the docks made by third party peripheral manufacturers.

Oh yeah, dummy me. I have x1 usb c, and x2 usb 3.0. The Dell one is in my folder of candidates so ill have to give it another look.
