I'm using new tubing for my loop and a different colour coolant, right now I have blue tubing with clear coolant but changing to blue coolant and clear tubing, the tubing came with a cleaning solution called Sys Prep, it recommends using this with distilled water running through the loop for 12 hours. Is it really necessary I do this?

Depends on a few things, but at least an hour would be great. It might save you having to take your loop apart later.

Would it help prevent the coolant changing colour? I have used blue coolant before and it started turning dark green.

You should flush your loop after every coolant colour change.

The bottle of SysPrep has a run date of 08/19/13, is that the expiring date?

No, that's manufactured date. I confirmed with Primochill before using mine this past weekend.
