inconsistent Wi-Fi

So I recently got a new ISP so I needed a new router (Netgear N300). And the wifi is really inconsistent. Do I need a new router or what

Why did you have to replace the router? What happened to the old one?

Is your connection to the Internet dropping or is the wifi connection dropping?

I had to get a new router because my old one was from my old Isp. And only the wifi is dropping not the wired connection.

Are you too far away? Whats the range of the router? Maybe you have too many 2.4Ghz wireless devices around? 
How often does it drop? Is it around a certain time frame? 
 
I think your router may be DDWRT compatible so you can give that a spin if you want.

Yep. Any cordless phones or other wireless networks close by that might be using the same channel?

It goes down 1-3 times a day, there is no specefic time frame and I don't think there is that many 2.4 ghz receivers around.
