Not to sure if you want to be folding on a server man, just saying but then again, each to their own.

I would use Windows Server 2012 Standard (That's what I am running on my server), if you want it dumbed down, use Windows Server 2012 Essentials

Sorry forgot to post specs :P

I am going to use an i7 3770K on the server, which is going to be idling probably 16-20 Hours a day...

Any Linux variant in particcular?

I folded on Arch Linux (SMP, so just the CPU) for ~1.5 years. From last September to

this spring, I was running a 2600k @ 4.4 GHz IIRC (might have been clocked slightly

higher or lower, not sure anymore tbh). The total average PPD over this time period

(2012-SEP to spring 2013) was ~27k PPD (not according to the monitoring tool, but

actually going by the points I achieved).

I switched to BOINC a little while back since I was getting p'ed off about F@H's

lack of GPU support under Linux (so, for GPU folding I recommend Windows) and their

general attitude towards donors (there's a very long rant stored in there, but I'll

restrain myself ;)), so I'm not sure how things are now, but they shouldn't have

changed that much.

Stability was great throughout, never had any issues with all 8 threads @ 100%;

system was still usable for serving the web or doing any other work, so you don't

even have to shut off the F@H client, it will be throttled automatically if you

need CPU power for something else.
