Is an I7 3770 @ 75C too hot?

Hi folks,

 

I recently upgraded my gpu and installed MSI afterburner. I never really kept notice of my CPU temp before but now with RivaTuner in see that in playing games my CPU I7 3770 get up to 70-75C. I still have my stock cooler on it. I’m not sure if with the new GPU playing at maxed out graphics changed anything for the CPU at all. For all i know with my precious GPU it at just ad hot, i just neven knew.

 

there are too many confusing statements on temps on the internet. I understand it depends on the CPU as well? And that above 75C is potentially dangerous, where some sites stat 85 and some overclocking video’s i came across researching this even went up to 90 as the limit was 95 for that processor???

 

so in my case what would be a good temp to aim for, should I buy a better cooler say Be-Quit? Do those come with thermal paste if not what should I get?

Its totally fine, ivy bridge works fine until 100c then throttles and finally shuts down at 105c. My 3570K hits 99c (4.5ghz with 1.44v does that).

Seems kinda high for 4.5ghz, what cooler do you have?

still want to buy a quieter cooler at some point. Any suggestions for that?

 

I got a CoolerMaster case, not sure what model... but rather larger I think a tower?

Yes, if I was lucky I would have hit 5ghz with that voltage, mine is a terrible chip. I delidded like 6 months after getting it almost 7 years ago.

Anything goes, but considering you cant overclock as much as K series cpus, something like Hyper212 (check if its compatible with LGA1155 socket, its getting old so OEM might be phasing support out for those) should be more than enough.

I’m not looking to overclock my system CPU. Just wanted to know if 75C was too hot or not. And since my stock cooler is getting dusty and obnoxiously loud, I’m wondering what cooler I should get instead

This is the one I got. Its quieter than stock fan and keeps temps a lot lower.

If you're not sure what case you have, please post some photos of it. 

Where are you shopping / located? Budget?
