Reason for Buzzing/Humming?

Seems even after resetting my OC the buzzing is till there, my ground noise loop isolator does help but is still audible. I think going with a DAC is gonna be the best option going forward. I think I might end up going with an:

E10k

Syba Sonic

Or this DAC-X6

Any other recommendations are welcome. I live in Aus if that helps. Thanks for the help so far :)

You should make a new post about looking for a DAC so more people can help out. The Dac-X6 has been serving me very well so it would get a recommendation from me but there might be better ones out there by now.

I've always had a very, almost inaudible, humming when I was playing games when my GPU was pinned close to 100%, but recently its gotten quite audible and during idle which has gotten very annoying. What would causes for this be? I was doing some cable management for external wires (eg. keyboard wires, headphone wires, mouse wires, hdmi and display port cables etc) and had a bunch in close proximity and thought maybe it was that for some reason but changing it back did nothing. I'm now using a ground noise loop isolator that I normally use for my switch which reduced the volume of the buzzing but it's still audible. Would investing in a DAC like an E10k or a Fulla be worth it?

Thanks for any replies.

On your sound system ? That's EMI from GPU \ motherboard \ PSU. No idea how to fix that tho maybe your PC components just aren't very good at suppressing EMI.

Yeah I just plug my headphones into the motherboard audio out and assumed it was something like that, but I didn't think it would get to the point where it was super audible. Seen some stuff about getting a DAC can help prevent something like EMI. But wasn't too sure either if it could be be something else as well. When I drag windows or scroll in firefox the buzzing gets much louder for as long as doing that action.

I had the same problem as well. Mine was caused by my CPU overclock. My motherboard is a b450 so it's an okay-ish overclocker but it probably wasn't too happy about all the extra power the CPU sucked up.

I personally went with a super cheap amp/dac combo from FX-AUDIO called DAC-X6, which has been working flawlessly. Not sure if it's still the best budget amp/dac combo but it was at the time when I bought it.

Ah, I wonder if that might be something, I do have my 2700x overclocked on a b450 so might be the same.

I'm not to familiar with good DAC/AMP combos but I've seen some stuff on the Schiit Fulla and E10k being good value for money. Would you (or anyone else) have any recommendations?

Yup same here, 2700X with a b450. Maybe save your OC profile in your BIOS and reset everything to default to see if the sound stops. If it does, then you can either try tuning your OC and see if you can get the noise to go away while still being overclocked or just get an external dac.

I'm not all too familiar with them either so you would need to ask the more savvy people here like Riceguru when it comes to Audio.

I'll try that in the morning and see what results I get. Thanks for the help :)

Are you plugged into the rear mobo audio jack, or the front panel port?

If front panel, try the mobo ports.

If mobo ports, buy a dac. I personally like the Syba DAC as a cheap option, but feel free to spend more. ?

It might be a ground loop or a wiring problem. Does your headphones use a trs connector, or does it have a trrs connector? The motherboard is going to need an adapter for trrs. If you use a headset, make sure the headphones and microphone are plugged into the same device to avoid ground loops.
