Hi, so i bought a new motherboard bundle which is the MSI Z77A-GT43 with an Intel Core I5 3470 and 8gb of ram.

Since my previous motherboard had VIA HD audio drivers, windows reconfigured everything. I anyway went on the msi website to download the audio drivers and I installed them. After that then none of the audio jacks were working, front and rear. the Realtek sound manager picks up that a device was plugged in but no sound is playing through my speakers. Is there a way to fix this?

I’m wondering if maybe the windows settings got set back to default or just something different.  That’s been known to happen.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Do you know how make it right then?

Basically no.  Well maybe a little . I don’t really know bupkis about windows10.  There are those around that do.  I’m not one of them though.  I hang out here to find out stuff and what the heck is up with windows10 is one.  If it was 8.1 or 7 I might be able to do something.  They behave similarly to a degree.

I can tell you that down in the settings is a place where you can choose what your audio output is.  I use an old fashioned sound bar that runs off optical output.  If I don’t manually set it there I get no sound.  When I change video cards it goes back to default and I have to look up the secrets of its location and change it back again. It’s hidden deeper now than it used to be, much like safe mode which used to be much easier to get to.  Now it’s hidden behind like 3 things.  Truly obnoxious.
