ok so this may sound weird so bare with me.  I just purchase a new asus pg279q monitor.  It works like a charm and everything but while watching a video today on a white or bright screen, i noticed that there was a dead pixel.  Now i do have a warranty on the display so ill just exchange it but it begs the question, can your gpu cause dead pixels on your monitor?  My other monitor has them as well but much more of them.  If the gpu can cause this, is there a way to prevent it?

Current Rig=  AMD Ryzen 9 5900x, Asus Crosshair Hero VIII, EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 ultra, 32gb Corsair Vengence Pro RGB 3000hz White, EVGA 750 P2 PSU, 1TB Samsung 980 Pro, 500gb samsung 860 evo, 250GB Samsung 850 evo, 2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus, 2TB seagate firecuda sshd,  LianLi PC 011 Dynamic XL ROG edition, Corsair h150i elite capelix

No, but are you sure it wasn't just the video that had a dead pixel?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Then most likely just return/exchange the display.

Also why did you buy that display? Nvidia supports free-sync now, and those displays with IPS panels are around only around $300-350.

or there's 100hz Ultrawides for $400

In case you didn't know stuck pixels are perfectly square (unless they are bunched up) and are red, green or blue. A dead pixel is gray or black and sometimes squiggly looking. Often stuck pixels are actually smudges on the screen or fixable by using a stuck pixel fixer. Dead pixels are not fixable however.
