Need help deciding on CPU

Like the title says, I need some help trying to decide on which cpu to get for my new build. I'll be using a GTX 2080 super. I'm looking at either getting the i7 9700k, or the Ryzen 7 3700x. I play VR and sometimes stream. Wondering if the extra cores and threads will help with the 3700x  or of its worth it to just go with the better ipc with Intel. Also I'm worried about having to get "super fast ram" for the AMD chip to work well (I heard ryzen thrives off of fast ram). Also not sure if VR gaming really uses many cores anyway. I've got an i7 4771 right now but VR gaming just destroys my processor in certain environments. I cant even play boneworks lol. Any help is appreciated!
