New CPU issues

I bought myself a Ryzen 7 3700x for christmas to upgrade from my Ryzen 5 1600x. 

 

I made sure my PSU power output was plentiful (running a 650W 80+ Gold) 

 

I installed the new CPU, just like all the rest of my builds, and when I applied power, the CPU light on my MOBO comes on. (the MOBO manual just says this means the component is "malfunctioning."

 

All the fans spin, and the lighting comes up, with the exception of boot. 

 

I have a Gigabyte AB-350 Gaming 3, and on their website, it clearly states it supports this CPU. 

 

I reinstalled my 1600x, and it booted immediately. 

 

Are there any BIOS settings i may need to change?

 

What are the chances I received a faulty processor from factory?

 

Is there anything I may have overlooked?

Sounds like you have to upgrade bios in order to use this new cpu. Ryzen 3rd gen was released after the board was released so that’s why in order to all of that work you need upgrade mobo bios.

You know what, that is something I forgot to do.
