Hello guys,

So I've got my rig for 4 years now and i feel like it's starting to get a little sluggish and not run as smoothly as it once did.

My main goal is to upgrade it with the most value for money options, taking into consideration that it's a gaming pc mainly focused on 1080p gaming.

Below is a list of the current config:

  • CPU: Intel I5 6500

  • Motherboard: Asus Z170-P

  • RAM : 2x4GB HyperX Fury 2400MHz Cl15

  • GPU: GTX 960 Strix 4GB GDDR5

  • Storage: Kingston 120GB HyperX Savage 2.5 SATA III SSD/ Western Digital 1TB Caviar Blue 7200rpm 64MB SATA III 3.5

  • Power Supply: Seasonic S12II 520W

  • Case: NZXT S340

Thanks for the help and feedback and Merry Christmas to all :D!!

Out of all the components I currently have I would like to upgrade those that would give the biggest performance increase without whilst being compatible with the rest of the system, since the main goal would be to do a gradual overhaul and create a +-700$ ryzen sistem for 1080p gaiming.

I would like to do it as monthly investments more or less and purchase the components one step at time but still being able to use until i have all parts.

Maybe I'm being a little stingy :P but i didn't want to make such an investment all at once.

BTW I live in Europe ?.

I'm thinking of going with the RX 5700 although i don't know if my PSU will handle it :/ ... Afterwards I'll probably upgrade the CPU for a Ryzen 2600 or 3600 :D the main doubt with the CPU/MB is whether if i go with a B450 MB or a X470 (taking into consideration future upgrades)

You can get the 5700 and a new better psu that you can reuse in the new build.
