sd card adapter

so I have a sandisk microsd card adapter and the second I put it with a micro sd card in to my sd card slot it heats up to the point it is smoking. what is broken?

I live in misery USA. my timezone is central daylight time which is either UTC -5 or -4 because the government hates everyone.
