Hi everyone, I am currentley building a pc for the first time and it has gone relativley well until now. I put the motherboard into the case just to see how it lines up, but then it snapped in place and is now stuck. The problem is, I didnt arrange the standoffs in the case berforehand and now some of the spots in the motherboard which are supposed to be screwed in have no standoff to put a screw in at all. I dont how to remove the motherboard and I dont want to pull on it too hard because im afraid im going to break it. Can I just leave it as it is? The motherboard is already pretty secure so do I have to screw it in? Or is there a way to take it out without damaging it? Any help is appreciated

You have to use all the standoffs or it will either bend too much when you install other parts (being careful wont help very much, you need a certain amount of force to get the parts in) or short with the metal case.

Wiggle it out, especially watch for the rear I/O area. Eventually you'll get it out.

Thats such a professional answer. In reality it will probably be fine as long as the corners are anchored and theres at least one in the middle somewhere. Actually I retract that, if the standoffs are not installed at all then @Jurrunio is 100% correct, adding additional cards risks the board bending or shorting. The standoffs support the board from sagging and they do all need to be in.

Now with that said I would like to be clear, I still think you should remove the board and screw it down fully. If a jobs worth doing its worth doing properly and this is your computer that I assume you want to be using for years to come so put in all the extra effort.

To remove the board grab the PCB on the side closest to the front of the case (the side opposite the IO connectors), lift it very slightly and then wiggle and gently pull back until it releases.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

Some case have one standoff already installed like on the middle which is slightly raised to hold mobo in the place.
