B450 Tomahawk+ Ryzen 3600?

Hello,

I've been looking for pieces, for upgrades and all of that because its came thru my mind the ideea of changing my CPU aswell.

Right now I have a Ryzen 2600 and a mSI B450 Tomahawk.

Should I upgrade my CPU, is it worth it?

Does the 2600 still manage to run good with the new incoming games?

What CPU would be the max for my motherboard.

Thanks to all of you.

Max CPU for your board is a 3900X, that board should run it fine.

As for your 2600, why not get a game and try it?  Can always upgrade then.

Since we don't know the rest of your system, it's not as easy as saying yes or no.

But for the most part, with appropriately balanced components in your rig... the 2600 does just fine in new games.

Ne point in upgrading from an R5 2600 to an R5 3600, the difference isn't worth the money spent.

CPU the max for your mbo? I guess the ryzen 9 3950X, the stronger available Ryzen.

As an aside, you think the Tomahawk will run the 3950X fine enough?

my 2600 is running around 30-40% on RDR2 on low settings with a 5700XT. That game destroys GPUs. I have a bunch of old games that dont put the CPU over 50% load. Borderlands 3 doesnt go over 50% load. That is all I can think from the top of my head.

That one doesn't draw a lot more than the 3900X, and the B450 Tomahawk has a batter VRM than many X470 boards and even some X570 boards.

Thanks for all the answers, I knew the fact that the  board has a SOLID VRM, but I didn't know it could handle that 3900X or the fact that it has a better VRM than x470 and even some x570.

Motherboards overall are not my forte area in the PC hardware knowledge

The other rig components are:

16GB @3000Mhz HyperX Predator

GTX 1060 6GB -> will be updated in the next monts with a RX5700XT/ 2060S even 2070S

550W FPS PSU

The CPU runs great right now, I can't complain about how it performs, I know the CPU is bottlenecked by the GPU right now.

As I stated in my other posts, I am trying to finetune my PC for Cyberpunk, I am trying to figure out what parts I could upgrade for a better performance.

Aside from the MOBO discussion:

Got a question about RAM, mine are running at 2933 right now, I think its fine for the moment, or should I upgrade to 3200 or 3600?

Thanks a lot again!
