Hey guys,

My 3570k and GTX 1060 have been feeling outdated lately, I’m looking to get a new rig this holiday season.

I’m Canadian and have a budget of about $2600 CAD (All in, tax included). I won’t need a new case or CPU cooler (I’ll reuse my NH-D14 with a mounting kit) or bulk storage drives. I’d like a 250-500GB M.2 drive for my OS and maybe a game or two. I have an EVGA 650w 80+ bronze PSU that I wouldn’t be against upgrading if need be.

I have 2 monitors, they’re 1440p 144hz.

It would be used for gaming and watching videos/listening to music/watching streams at the same time. I occasionally edit video and photos.

Thanks for any advice you can give, guys. I won’t be purchasing anything until Boxing Day sales, but I’d like to get a plan of what I’ll be trying to put together.

Update: You can look at my signature to see what I have now, forgot I set that years ago. Turns out my PSU is 750w, so that’s fun.

Oh hey, and it’s 80+ Gold too. Guess I won’t be needing a new PSU.

Gold rating doesn't really have anything to do with quality, it's just an efficiency rating ;)

Honestly if you're waiting until Boxing Day (that's still a thing?), it's probably best to just wait and see what goes on sale.

Rough guidelines can be suggested, but really, if it all comes down to price specific parts can't be suggested.

I’ve been really struggling to come up with a CPU/Mobo/M.2 combo I should go with. Since 1440p really equalizes FPS for CPUs, I’m not too sure which to go with and what mobo I should choose with it.

I'd go with the 9700k, the motherboard of your choosing (I wouldn't get MSI), and do you want a SATA or NVME drive?

I haven't seen decent Boxing Day sales in Canada for years. Black Friday is now much stronger.

I appreciate the comprehensive list, wicked prices ? never heard of that RAM or storage company, think they’ll be reliable?

Ram mostly only comes from just 3 companies, most just buy it from them and slap their name on it. the A80 is one of the faster Nvme drives you can get.

Tweaked @Herman Mcpootis 's build a bit, a 2080 super should be enough for 1440p and I got you faster ram.

Motherboard, ssd and psu are all really good.

Thanks for your reply, do you think that RAM will fit under the NH-D14?

Alright fellas, how do we feel about this? I figure I can OC a nice 2080 Super to get performance similar to a low-end 2080ti and use that money to juice the CPU, mobo, and get some new fans to rejuvenate my NH-D14 and my case.

P.S. The 9900KS is currently $679.88 here so that's why I have it at that price.
