Hi got some artifacts on my Radeon rx5700xt red dragon. Any ideas gpu stock settings latest drivers.

Just try a different driver most likely, and make sure your motherboard bios is up to date.

that appears to be game/driver/windows side, not artifacting from an unstable GPU core or GDDR6

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Why you thinks it might be software caused? I had very similar artifacts on 290x on some games. I think it was caused by overheating vram.

This is driver game based or too high boost on core, cause artifacts went away by limiting power or clocks on gpu.

GPU artifacting is usually more colorful lol

19.12.3 just came out as well, but if your'e still seeing issues after a bunch of attempts to fix it, probably just need to exchange the GPU

You can also try making an ubuntu USB, and running some games under Linux to see if the issue is windows/drivers.

That would take a while unless they specifically have one of the games that actually works under Proton through Steam without any extra work, have Linux knowledge to get the right drivers, have a USB big enough to run a live Ubuntu install and hold Steam and download their game to (unless they point that to another drive but then they have to use that other drive and undo it once they're back in Windows so it defeats the point), aaaand chances are they still can't run the same game as what's in the YT vid, defeating the point of a comparision (unless this specifically happens in every game, not just a few).

Usually, but this is the exact same pattern as it often is so it seems like GPU artifacting.

@jokunen1, here's some actual solutions:

  • Reinstall the latest drivers, using the option for a clean install in the installer itself (this has apparently fixed problems for some people)
  • Download DDU, reboot into safe mode, run it (it will remove every trace of the new drivers, making sure it can't mess anything else up) and install the last stable driver before Adrenaline 2020 Edition (so the newest version of Adrenaline 2019 Edition).
  • Try downclocking the VRAM and core on your GPU by 100-200Mhz or so, see if that removes or lessens the issue. If it does then it's likely a hardware issue and I'd RMA the card.

It's super simple to install steam from their app store and there's plenty of free games like dota 2 or CS:GO

If his artifacting is only happening in one game, then it's not the GPU that's the issue. If it's happening in every game, then testing under Linux is useful.

Unless this is the only game they have that pushes the card hard enough for it to artifact. Although tbh that is a slimmer chance.

Yes but also no, there's easier ways to test for that in windows, such as making sure the drivers are clean (aka the 'ole DDU + fresh install combo you use for funky driver issues).

Ok thanks for reply, this is what I hoped.

I have done some basic testing.. I done basic ddu and went to month old drivers, same game. Also cod mw re installed (optimised shaders) and I have no issues at that spot on that game. So it might have been new 19.12.2 drivers or cod. I had also textures not fully loading on some levels on cod, got fixed by re isntalling game (by moving to ssd from hdd) and on other level deleting some files and cheking game files = reinstall.

Then I ddu again and tried same drivers as before and I still dont get issues (again re optimizing shaders in game).

So I cant get artifacts any more, I will do some more testing (gaming) when I have time. And it is only that game maybe 1 other but might have been like getting used to seeing similar artifacts all over on old radeon. I also tested deus ex human kind devided where I got lot of artifacts with old gpu and I got no artifacts.

I contacted the tech store some time ago, and they granted rma, but they will test gpu so I dont want so send it for no reason if they cant get artfacts there. So I will send email back to then and tell that I will do more testing to see if it was software problem.

It might be software problem cause cod mw nice craphics but buggy, same to radeon drivers new big ubdate new gpu architecture = bugs.
