Hello I am currently looking to upgrade my cheap hyper x headset. I mainly use it to play FPS  and the occasional Single player games such as tomb raider.  I’m actually looking for something that will give me a much better audio experience, but I do not know what kind of headphone I should get or the extra equipment if needed. I’m willing to spend about 300-350 dollars for everything. And buying a separate mic is not an issue.

Thank you for any recommendations given.

what games exactly do you play? where are you loacted? if amazon is not available in you country what stores would you use? what type of music do you listen to? how quite is your space / do you want a open back or closed back ?

I do have access to Amazon. Recent games that I have been playing are Sekiro, Re2, Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege. Music I listen to are mainly House music, and Lofi hip hop. I occasionally listen to pop music as well. My space is quiet for the most part, it does not happen so frequent that it becomes an issue. And I honestly have not experience the difference between close and open back. I will try whichever is more recommended. Thank You

We play pretty similar things.  My reccomendatiom would be a dt880 , dt 990 , or a HD 58x, hd 599.  with a fiio k5 pro as a amp/DAC and a blue snowball or a modmic as a separate mic. But Beyer dynamic makes my favorite headphones that do gaming. They have wider sound stages and better imaging than most at this price point and keep their headphones great for music.

I am looking into one of the beyer dynamics that you recommended. Would the 600 ohm model be the right choice? Also I can’t seem to find a filo k5pro in stock. Could you recommend me some alternatives, I’m willing to spend a bit more if it makes a significant difference.

You would need an amp to drive them. There are many others, like Schiit etc. Im sure @rice guru could name others or suggest something else form Fiio lineup. Or you could go with the 32 ohm ones and forgo the amp/DAC. Overall a matter of portability vs sound reproduction. Its more of a hassle to set up amp-DAC somewhere else. But amp-DAC would provide more flexibility to "tune" the reproduction. Comparing possible use-cases not making an argument.

For that you must have a lot of comparative experience with different headphones and amps. Since you are upgrading from HyperX headphones, then pretty much ANY upgrade will be a significant difference. But to suggest one headphone-dac-amp combo over others is highly subjective, since we dont know your personal hearing range.

The point of all of this is not to throw money at a problem, rather consider all the elements of the decision.

I would say the suggested Beyers as good choice for precision, sennheisers have better overall performance. Again, dont know your personal hearing range, so it may be the reverse for you...

Thank you very much for the informations @PriitM. I just rather not have to upgrade or replace anything any time soon. I would prefer to spend more money and have something long term.

You will get better over the HyperX for sure. If its good value for you tho...well we cant help you with that. Something that sounds great to us may not be same to you. Just trying to add different viewpoints to make an educated guess.

600 ohms are hard to drive but should be fine with the alternatives.

Alternatives are the schiit magni 3+ or schiit heresy, monoprice liquid spark. And plug these into your PC and in the future if you desire a better DAC like the modi, topping d10, d30 you can but with your budget you couldn't fit it in if you wanted a mic
