EMMC module question.

im trying to buy an EMMC module for my rock64 sbc but im confused on a few things.. why in the listings are they labeled as "green dot, android/ red dot linux/ blue dot linux".. even on the hardkernel website directly they have red and green label that say android and linux.. is an emmc module not just an unformatted storage module for you to do with as you please? do i need to buy a green label/android emmc module if im putting android on it? or red for linux? can i not buy a green label and put linux on it? is there some weird formatting thing that only makes them compatible with certain distros? what does the color of the "dot" have to do with anything? i assumed it was like every other type of flash storage and you could just load whatever you wanted on it.. also, do i NEED to buy the seperate flasher with the usb on one side that you plug the emmc module into? can i not just do that via an os and transfer from microsd to emmc?

im new to the sbc world.

The "Dots" is actually indicating the pre-loaded OS, as far as I can tell.

oh, thats it? well i guess thats kinda cool they come preloaded with an OS.. but that still means one could in theory not use that os and format and reinstall a completely different os right? or not use for an os at all and just use it for extra storage? or use it in any way that flash storage can be used?

Looks like it. Actually, they do sell the blank one. Look for the round orange sticker.
