What i need, looking for suggestions, my budget is whatever i can make in a reasonable amount of time.

i9-9900k or ks (need advice below about that) and want a rig built around it for multitasking along with insane performance for games (specifically cpu intensive ones like MC and csgo).

Hey,

I would go fr the Ryzen 3950x( beast of a processor). With an MSI unify or ace X570 to Overclock. And get a good cooler- NZXT kraken x72. Gen4 nvme ssd’s are super fast( see what’s available). For graphics if you want to save a little go for the 2080 super. Ram would be gskill trident a neo CL16 3600mhz.

great suggestions. i see the numbers comparing the 3950x to the i9 9900ks. how can i translate that into some practical performance differences. im nervous about switching and have historically had bad times with amd. (as an intel fanboy)...

The 3950X doesn't offer anything over a lower end cpu like the 3600/X for gaming. And assuming you are looking at 1440p/4K then even less so.

The 9900K/KS would be faster at 1080p with a high end gpu like a 2080S/ti etc. Once you start moving up in resolution the gap will get smaller between the 9900K and any other current cpu like a Ryzen 3000 or 9700K etc.

If you want 8 cores then the 3700X would be a good option.

What sort of budget do you have ? Also what monitor do you have or intend on using ?

im looking towards 1080p gaming (monitor being an asus vg278q 144hz monitor) and i need the single core performance more than multiple cores. i intend on using a 2080ti and maybe even 2 if i have the money for it. i have a budget around 1.5k but ill end up spending more like 2k

Probably best sticking with team blue then if single core performance is priority. If going with a 9900K then I would suggest one of the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus boards such as the Aorus Pro wifi. You will also need a beefy cooler like a Noctua D15/BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 or a good 280mm/360mm AIO.

You going to reuse your current psu/ram ?

i was looking at the kraken water cooling system.

im going to maybe reuse my ram for a little while as im going to bite a significant bullet for the price of the parts. the gpu i have currently is a 1060ti (good gpu but i still need the upgrades) i plan on essentially keeping this thing constantly at peak clock speeds. do you think the closed water cooling loop will suffice to keep it at ok temperatures?

The X62 Rev 2 or X72 should both be fine.

The Gigabyte Z390 Designare has dual LAN ports.

your actually a god.

also, do you think i should go for a dual or triple radiator setup on the water cooling. i dont have any experience with cooling and tbh i think thats part of the issue on why my current pc is shitting the bed

Probably not a huge amount of difference between the X62 and X72 in terms of performance. The X62 has a slightly thicker radiator than the X72 so that should keep them pretty close.

I would say choose a case first and see what the radiator support is like. Some cases will only fit a 360mm in the front for example.

Other option is an air cooler like the two I mentioned above. You want low profile ram though ideally as they will cover all the ram slots due to their size.
