Different Ram Sticks

Hello,

I got now two different types of sticks:
2x 4gb DDR4 HyperX Fury 2666mhz Cl 15
2x 8GB DDR4 Hyperx Fury 3200 MHZ CL16

When i try them together my pc wont even start. Can these not run together/is there a way that i can make them run together?

Clear the Bios then boot again with all 4 installed and see what happens. All the sticks should default speed depending on the CPU you have.

Your memory is going to run at the lowest speed and highest timings in this case 2666Mhz C15

Will they work?

It should

Is it ideal?

Either replace the kit all together or buy the matching kit to the first.

You should have googld, that mixing ram is not a good idea. But do what @ddennis002 said. Clear cmos, or flash bios and try again, otherwise return the ram and buy same kit.

different capacity kits isnt a good idea.

as at best the kit will run in compatibility mode to make dualchannel work. this either means half the ram on 2 of the kits will be gone or best that it will cut its speed in half once exceeding 16GB.

Thanks!

Well i had my 8gb kit laying around so since they can overclock to 2933 mhz I assumed that the timing and speed could match and therefore work. Going to try what @ddennis002wrote above and try my luck. I dont need the 8gb set I just wanted to see if it wants to work for what costs :)

(Afterthought: maybe it doesnt work because I changed the xmp profile.......?) Well well.

Thanks for answers :)

So i finally got bottered to test this.
The solution was to set the RAM first to default bios setting 2193, then put both sets in.
Change the bios to 2933mhz. Currently they show in task manager that they are running at 2733mhz put work flawless. since my current setup doesnt have huge advantage of 3200mhz vs 2733 (i guess - i7 8700, 1080 strix) im holding on to both kits :)
