Used card?

Found a gtx1070 for 175 on facebook marketplace local

Running a old r290 was lent to me. Been on the choice of a  1660 ti or Maybe 2060s. Do mostly 1080p, looking to go to 2k. Mostly play sc2 ,wow,doom, so be new one,and cyberpunk.

Would the risk on use be worth the price, or just go with a new updated card?

Buy that card used. It could be scam or it could be little broken (under performing etc.), but that is really rare.

he might have a system that you can use to check to see if it is working, may just be someone that really needs money so he is lowballing it for a quick sale or just wants to get rid of old hardware that he has no use for and doesnt really care about money (have a friend who scored a titan x hybrid for $50 (legit card, i helped install the card {though did end up getting it installed as it was being real tempermental, no video to monitor, swapped to old gpu still no video, then put the titan in again, no video, put the old gpu in and put the case back together, worked like so confused that day}) as the guy upgraded to a rtx titan card)
