Help picking a RAM

Go to solution Solved by karsnoordhuis,

its a dual channel kit you need. so either two or four sticks of unbuffered/ unregisterd dd3 max 1600mhz and max 32gb in total. it can be either ecc or non ecc. id go for ecc memory as you can get is super cheap on ebay. just get the maximum your budget supports. if you want the 32gb its 4x8gb.

Hi, I recently decided to upgrade PC which is  HP z230 workstation a 5 or 6 years old. Currently I have 8GB (2x4GB)  and I want to upgrade it to 16GB but Unfortunately I face a lot of Obstacles.

is it dual Channel or single channel or even quad ?

what speed I have to buy

buffered or unbuffered

is it better to buy a new kit (2x8GB) or (4x4GB) ? or just buy a (2x4GB)

please help me to pick a ram or at least told me how to pick.

My current ram images attached.
