Sub-$1000 laptop for Gaming/Adobe Creative Cloud/Coding

As it says on the tin. 

 

Shopping for a laptop: 

 

Budget : ~700-1000 USD

Use cases: 

  • Gaming (MMORPGs and indie games so high refresh not a priority even if it was possible at this price point)
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photshop, Illustrator, Premiere)
  • Coding (Front-end Web Development, Javascript, Java, C++/C#)

Concerns are decent GPU, decent typing experience, decent screen (obviously not getting totally professional color gamuts, but something approaching decent would be nice), and portability (though I can sacrifice it a little for a deal). Also as non-gamery in aesthetic as possible (hence steering away from Acer and Asus TUF series). 

 

Right now I'm looking at the HP Gaming Pavilions (which I've heard have good panels), HP Omen series, the Dell G series, and the one ROG Strix G731GU (only because of its current sale price). 

 

Any other thoughts or recommendations I may have missed?
