windows 10 fresh install, latest build.

Some basics,

This is my first build, and being so I attempted to do my best.

It posts, it detects all cores, detects the m.2 and sshdd, cpu remains stable at around 50c idle (which is warm considering it's got an aio on it).

I ensured it's on the newest (NON-BETA) mobo bios.

Here's where the issues start.

Day 1

After verifying that everything is as correct as it can be I start running time spy, gpu test 1 & 2 pass, CPU test - Green screen to a hard reboot...I'm thinking ok.... maybe it's just poor thermal paste connection or something... verify that there is enough thermal paste and that the connection is secure and tight.

run #2.... same issue.... i'm starting to get nervous.

Give it a day to see if there's something I can google and get an answer to... there's a few options but nothing appears to be a direct answer as to what could be the issue. Run scans etc etc.... nothing should be causing this issue.

Day 2

Re-seat the ram and gpu

Run #3.... and same issue.

Check the psu and connections on the mobo, all tight and secure.

I'm at a loss....

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try resetting everything in your bios to the defaults by clearing the CMOS. If there's no clear CMOS button or jumper on your motherboard, just shut down completely, remove the little watch battery from the motherboard, wait a minute or two, then resinsert it.

If that doesn't work CAREFULLY update your bios for the motherboard. Make damn sure that it's the right bios for the right motherboard (some mobos have revision numbers on top of their part numbers for example).

Don't make any mistakes with this and don't do it at a time that you think you could lose power because it can brick your motherboard completely.

Sorry for the extended delay in response. I've cleared the cmos and made sure that the mobo bios is correct.

Still having the issue.

Once again, sorry for the delayed response.

I went ahead and ran a memtest at the request of a friend.

Turns out, bad ram.... bad bad ram.

I started the test at about 2 am, by 9 am it was still at 21%.

Uh. Are you sure about that?

You know that memtest will start over and go in a loop once it's done yes?

Did you sit in front of it all the time to check,  are you sure that wasn't its 2nd or 3rd run or so?

Also any errors?

"Bad bad RAM" would most likely at least throw out a couple of errors after several hours in mem test.

BSOD test results. If anyone finds something please respond!

Well that's a nice system you have there, it really shouldn't have these issues...

So your issue is.  CPU test in timespy crashes?

In that case it's really hard to say,  maybe the AIO isn't seated correctly, or thermal paste not applied correctly...?

You should probably check that and maybe even use the stock cooler for testing and make sure thermal paste is applied properly.

Otherwise I would possibly RMA the CPU,  since that's what's apparently failing... You didn't need to exchange your RAM lol, but I guess it couldn't hurt either.

I'm really a bit at loss here,  need more info (I'm also unfamiliar with this "BSOD test" so I can't help you there)

Did you try other benchmarks,  temps,  CPU /  GPU usage, etc.

Maybe you could provide pictures of your build that shows the cabling etc.

Also please use the quote or @  function so people can see your response ,  I only saw your post randomly just now.

@Mark Kaine

Sorry about that, still getting used to the site. I'll swap out the aio for the stock cooler when I get the chance and see whether or not that makes a difference...... Is there a way to check to see if the cabling is correct? (Ie: aio pump is on the right header etc etc) I, once again am new to the cpu building arena and want this to go well.

And thanks for the compliment on the system build :D

Np!  Just make sure the cooler / thermal paste is applied correctly, search for youtube tutorials if you aren't sure, there are plenty of them.

I'd also do some other tests like Superposition and Cinebench, also download HWmonitor to check temps and such (post pics)

Just post some pictures, something like this perhaps

@Mark Kaine

I went ahead and threw on the wraithfire cpu kit that came with the 3600x, making sure to use enough thermal goop. Unfortunately i'm still running into the same issue.

There are only a few more possibilities.

It can't be PSU as the entire system boots and remains stable (even as I type this).

1. Bad cpu (which seems pretty far fetched)

2. Mother board may have micro fractures or may have been damaged at some point.

I wouldn't rule out a bad processor. I had an AMD Ryzen 3600 that could run for 10 days before an endless BSOD crash cycle. Games, full CPU load (like video conversion and export, 7Zip benchmark).

It was usually a YouTube video that got it started on crashing.

Careful not to over apply the thermal paste, as that can cause a nasty overheat.

Do you have problems with other CPU bound tests?

Could also be a driver problem, have you installed all the latest drivers for your motherboard, graphics card?

Cinebench, time spy, and a few others have been done.

Cinebench completes with no issues.

I think right now, time will tell if something is wrong. Monitor the PC, and react if it starts BSOD'ing or other funny business.

The processor could show later if there is a problem.

I also have another suspicion. I seem to read a lot about AMD graphics driver bugs. Maybe this is one. I don't know.

But throw some games/work at the PC, and see how it reacts.
