Hi all,

A friend of mine contacted me with a problem - he needs to use a very old card-printer for something sports related, but there only drivers available for it up as far as Windows 7.  He was trying to find someone with a Windows 7 PC that would lend it to him - but is a sensible alternative to get a Windows 7 Virtual Machine going on a more recent PC?  I have never tried Virtual Machines before so I am not at all familiar with how they work

Many thanks for any tips.

There is a chance that the drivers will work with windows 10 (or there are compatible drivers available with windows 10 or via windows update), so it'll be better to make sure if it will work or not in windows 10 before going down the VM route (as for getting information on that end, you'll have to wait for someone with more knowledge relating to VMs as that isn't something I'm knowledgeable in).
