Okay, so I just got a brand new 500gb samsung 860 evo ssd. I'm about to install it, but before I do I've had this question for a while. I looked it up online and got tons of different answers so here is the question. I got it more for game loading times rather than os boot times. I have 3 1TB drives in my system. My boot times are just fine for me. I would rather have my ssd as a secondary drive where I can install games to. Every time this question gets asked it seems like people freak out and say "oh why would you do that when your boot times could be so much faster"! Again, that isn't a problem for me. The concern I have is some answers said your games wouldn't be getting the most out of the ssd unless your os was installed to it since everything having to do with windows was also sped up on top of the games installed. Is this true? Am I losing ssd game performance by not putting my os on it? Can I just use it as a secondary drive? Please help me out!                      -Cheers

there''s definitely benefit with games only in SSD, but games often need to load from both its original files and save files in the OS install (in the Documents folder or AppData folder so you'll gain even more with OS on SSD as well

Thank you for the quick response. I guess a full clean install is in order. Time to roll up the sleeves. - Cheers
