Windows 10 Update issue

Go to solution Solved by Eigenvektor,

Windows shouldn't care about the battery, as long as you're running on external power. You could try removing it to confirm.

It's hard to tell what the issue is without seeing the exact error though. I think Windows creates an error log somewhere. You would have to Google where to find it. I've had similar issues where Windows would just tell me "Something went wrong" before doing a rollback and the logs suggested that something about my boot partition was wrong (e.g. too small). In the end only a reinstalled fixed it.

I have been having an issue with updating to the latest version of windows (1909 & 1903). The update download but the issue arises with the restart and update process. So it restarts then it begins the the update, after it restart automatically  then shortly after it shows a quick error message and then the laptop switches off. I have a lenovo G50-80 & the battery doesn't charge. Could it be the battery causing the issue or something else?

@EigenvektorI will try that battery method but i don't have all too much hope in it. I can rule out that space is not an issue as i have more than enough storage on my SSD for an update (60GB+ free space). I have tried looking at the error logs but it doesn't help much.

In my case the issue wasn't with the Windows partition, but the small 500 MB boot partition that Windows creates during installation. I think mine was only 250 MB instead, which was too small to install the update and resizing it didn't help. Not saying this is your issue though.

Like I said, search for the log file that Windows should've created during the update, it should hopefully contain more info. If you attach it here, someone might know what the issue is.
